Show Band Auditions

Show Band auditions are now complete. Miss Gallant, Ms. Schurman, and Mme Duncan would like to thank all of the 30+ students who tried out this year! 

There are limited spots in each band, so some very tough decisions had to be made. The band lists are now complete and are posted outside the music room. 

If you did not make the show band this time around, don’t be discouraged -  Miss Gallant, Ms. Schurman, and Mme Duncan strongly encourage you to try out for Parkside’s musical later this year!

Sign-up sheets have been posted outside the music room for the following groups:

Mid-Day Music (Grade 6 only)

• Mid-Day Music DJ's are responsible for reading a short paragraph about the weekly song over the loudspeaker before afternoon classes resume. Then, the DJ must play the weekly song using the audio equipment in the office. Training is provided. Students will cover DJ responsibilities one day/week for a 3-month period. 

Elementary Choir (Grades 3, 4, 5, & 6)
****Primary Choir (Grades K, 1, & 2) will begin in a few weeks!

• Elementary choir is open to anyone in grades 3-6 that loves to sing! 
• There will be an information meeting next week.
• Students can come to the first 2 rehearsals to decide if they want to join. Once joining, students are asked to commit to choir until after the Christmas concert.
• Students in this choir will perform at our Remembrance assembly as well as the Christmas concert. 

Show Band (Grades 5 & 6 - possibly grade 4)

• Show Band is an enrichment group for students who already have experience on an instrument.
• This is an auditioned group.
• There will be an information next week, with auditions beginning the week of Sept. 21
• Students who are strong singers, or who play keyboard, bass guitar, guitar, or drumset are invited to try out!
• This group requires students to practice their individual parts at home so that they can learn to play together as a band while at show band practice. This means that students will need to have a certain degree of independence and motivation to learn and practice their parts before show band day.
