Grade Three - The Orchestra
Over the last 2 weeks, grade 3 students have been exploring the various instruments of the orchestra. The instruments are divided into 4 "families." They are called families because the instruments are related in some way. The four families are: The String Family, The Woodwind Family, The Brass Family, and The Percussion Family.
Can you remember what is similar about the instruments in each family?
Here are some fun websites with orchestra-related activities. Have fun exploring and learning!

Grade Four - Naming Notes on the Music Staff
Grade four students are learning about the notes on the music staff with the intention of being able to read & play tunes on pitched instruments. Reading notes should eventually become automatic, but it takes practice to get there! Here are a few online tools that can help you practice from home:
Note Trainer
The Music Interactive (free games including "Staff Wars," "Krank & Lucy," and "Boom")
Have fun!
