Instruments of the Orchestra & Famous Composers

Students in grades 1 and 2 have been learning about the instruments of the orchestra over the last week. Here are some great videos that explain the 4 families of instruments and allow you to listen to each one!

Students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 have been learning about various composers. Ask you child to tell you about their composer. We've also been looking at one major work by each composer:

Grade 3 - Ludwig van Beethoven (Symphony No. 9)

Grade 4 & 5F - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (The Magic Flute opera)

Grade 5A & 6F - Franz Liszt (Hungarian Rhapsody)

Grade 6A & 6F - Antonio Vivaldi (The Four Seasons)

Congratulations to the cast & crew of "The Jungle Book KIDS" on their fabulous performances last week! We would like to send out a huge "Thank you" to all of the students and staff who were involved. Jungle Book KIDS - Final Week!

Here is a copy of the information going home with students on Monday. Please note that there is NOT going to be a rehearsal on Monday after school.

The Jungle Book – SHOW TIME!

It’s almost show time! The last 4 months of rehearsal and hard work will come to completion this week! We are so excited to present our musical. Here is some important information with regard to our production week:

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

Tuesday, May 13 – Tech rehearsal after school until 5:00PM

Wednesday, May 14 – Dress rehearsal after school until 5:00PM

PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE

Thursday, May 15 – Show for Parkside students & staff at 10:50AM.

Thursday, May 15 & Friday, May 16 – Shows for the public($5 ind./$20 family)

5:00PM – makeup/costume call for Mowgli, Bagheera, Baloo, Shere Khan, Shanti

5:30PM – makeup/costume call for all other cast members

6:00PM – call time for Stage Crew (wear black)

6:00PM – Doors open to the public at this time (Rear Gym Doors)

6:30PM – Show Time!

OTHER IMPORTANT NOTES

·         Cast members should wear dark socks as they will not be wearing shoes during the show (except Kaa & Coils – white socks/shoes)

·         Cast members - long hair must be tied back

·         Stage Crew members – please wear black clothing

·         Students - please have something to eat before you come on Thursday & Friday.

·         Take note of your call time for Thursday and Friday! Please be on time.

·         Cast & Stage Crew - use main entrance to the school and meet in the music room

·         Public will enter using rear gym doors (open at 6:00PM)

Jungle Book Rehearsal May 6

Rehearsal on Tuesday, May 6 after school until 4:30PM will be for the FULL CAST.
Please note the pick-up time - this week's rehearsal ends at 4:30PM.
