Aladdin Roles

The sinister vizier to the Sultan. He is the villain of the story – ruthless in his pursuit of power. This part requires a very strong actor who can portray evil in a variety of ways!

The magical spirit of the lamp! Funny, fast-talking, and quick-witted. This part requires a very strong actor and singer with impeccable comedic timing.
Iago

Jafar’s wise-cracking sidekick parrot. This part requires a strong actor who can move well.
Sultan

The ruler of Agrabah, and the father of Jasmine. The Sultan is blissfully unaware of Jafar’s evil ambitions. The Sultan protects his daughter, and tries his best to uphold the law. This part requires a strong actor who can convincingly play a dizzy yet doting father.
Tiger God

The Tiger God guards the lamp and the Cave of Wonders. The Tiger God is an all-powerful presence yet a tad bit sassy to keep it interesting. This part requires a strong actor who has good timing and shows considerable strength with his or her voice.
Head Guard

The head guard is in charge of the Royal Guards. It is their job to protect the Palace at all costs. This part requires a strong actor who is also an excellent leader with a commanding presence.
Lamp Vendor

A likeable, fast-talking vendor who serves as the principal storyteller in our show. The student playing this part should be comfortable on stage and have a clear speaking voice.
Avis the Magic Carpet

A flying carpet. This actor should be someone who has fantastic coordination and moves well on stage. This person should be able to express themselves very well using only his or her body and facial expressions. This actor should have excellent comedic timing.

The marketplace in Agrabah is full of vendors selling bread, fish, fruit, and many other things! Students playing these roles will be part of several songs and scenes. Some solos and a few speaking parts available.
Guards

The royal palace is protected by a group of brave, strong guards. The students playing these roles will be part of several songs and scenes as a group.
Skeletons
None

The skeletons live in the palace dungeon. The students playing these roles will be a part of 2 scenes and several songs – including one featured song. There are a few solos available.
Junior Djinn (Group 1)
None, but appear in several scenes
Group song, some solos available
The junior djinn are the spirits of the cave who help execute the magic of the story. The students playing the junior djinn (group 1) will be part of several scenes and songs, including a big feature in “Friend Like Me.” Their main job is to help the genie with his magic! Some solos available.

The junior djinn are the spirits of the cave who help execute the magic of the story. The students playing the junior djinn (group 2) will be a part of several songs, including “Friend Like Me.”
Parade Animals
None
Group songs only
The parade animals are a big part of Aladdin’s entrance into Agrabah as “Prince Ali Ababwa.” The song, “Prince Ali” features an elaborate parade to the palace. The parade animals will also be a part of at least 2 other songs in the musical.

    1.   Label your duo-tang with your name
    2.   Insert the pages in this order:
a.  Cover Page
b.  Music Survey 
c.  3 sheets of looseleaf paper
    3.   Close your duo-tang, and open it again. Are the pages in the correct order? Are they all facing in the correct direction?   If not, fix it.
    4.   When your duo-tang is complete, you must:
a.  Finish your music survey
    5.   When the survey is complete, you may:
a.  Colour/decorate your cover page
b.   Play music memory match
